The risk of frost due to water accumulation in the profile can be a problem with pinched aluminium railings.

The length of the glazing of the railings will only be limited by the technical choices/capacities of the construction and installation. Example: it is impossible to bring glass to the site above 2.5m (weight/height -> accessibility).

There are 2 types of installation for the VEA.

The weight and the manufacturing process of the glazing, they will determine the choice of the attachment and the dimensioning.

There are two types of glass drilling:
– Cylindrical drilling, where the fastener is over-thickness glass. It is suitable for any type of application and is recommended for the installation of suspended glass (when the structure is above the glass, for a glass roof or glass ceiling for example).
– The milled hole, where the attachment is flush with the glass. It is suitable for any type of application and is to be preferred for having a “100% smooth” facade or awning.
Glass manufacturing rules, and more specifically tempering rules, generally recommend drilling at a distance of 2x the thickness of the glass (distance between the edge of the glass and the edge of the hole).
In the case of laminated glazing, the thickness of the glass retained is that of the thickest glass component. For example, for 8.6/4 glazing, the minimum drilling distance is 2×8 = 16mm.
