This depends on the class of concrete used, the type of fixing, the type of application of the guardrail (private, public, general public).
A check by our technical department will be necessary to ensure the safety criteria of the SABCO glass balustrade.
Yes, there are different classes of concrete, for each class different fixing solutions can be used.
The dimensioning of the balustrade fasteners, in a concrete framework must comply with the standards in force in the various countries.
SADEV and its design office can carry out this dimensioning and draw up supporting calculation notes.
The SABCO guardrail can be installed on different types of structural supports, on concrete, metal structures, wood, etc. A verification of the fixing elements will be necessary to ensure that the railing is working properly, taking into account the nature of the support, the performance of the fixings and the type of application (private, public, general public).
This depends on the regulations in force, each country sets the guardrail heights.
In France, for example the standard requires a minimum distance to be respected.
SADEV and its range of guardrails are adapted to the different regulations of countries around the world. You can download these performance tables in the “download” section of the site.
In the case of a balustrade with glass, the minimum thickness of the glass depends on the method of fixing.
In “all-glass” guardrails (non-traditional balustrades built into the base).
The minimum glass thickness is 12mm, below this dimension its role of providing protection against falls is no longer assured.
Possibility to use monolithic, laminated, tempered, hardened, annealed glass.
The standards of the guardrails are different according to the regulations of the countries.
It is mandatory to refer to it before any project.
The patented wedge system which is fixed in the SABCO profile allows to hold different types of glass: monolithic / laminated (tempered, hardened or annealed).
It can also be other types of glass:
– Decorative glass: sandblasted, lacquered, digitally printed, coloured, enamelled
– Photovoltaic glass
These glasses can be assembled with different spacers PVB, PVB DG41, PVB trosifol ES, EVA, Sentryglass.
Yes. The SABCO system was developed to take up curved glass.
One of SABCO’s strong points is its ability, thanks to its patent, to allow a wide range of tolerance between the curved profile and the curved glass.
Assembly is guaranteed!
Bending is possible from a minimum radius of 1 metre.

Yes, our system is tested and qualified for high glass heights, either by tests or by calculations.
In the case of high balustrades, we strongly recommend that the wind criterion be taken into consideration.
For information: our SABCO guardrail system has passed wind cycle tests with high glazing heights of up to 2.1m.
Tested under cyclic pressure/vacuum conditions, our SABCO system confirmed its excellent performance by withstanding maximum operating pressures of approximately 4000pa with 10.10 PVB glazing.
The risk of frost due to water accumulation in the profile can be a problem with pinched aluminium railings.
To solve this problem, we have a solution that allows the drainage of the profile allowing the water to drain away. Please contact our technical teams for more information.
Yes. It is important to maintain the aluminum to ensure the durability of the guardrail.
And the durability of its warranty.
(See page warranty and maintenance.)
In order to ensure the proper functioning of guardrails, each country applies regulations with :
– Experimental trials:
– Either by applying static forces
– Either by applying dynamic efforts
– Either both
– Experimental tests and calculations
Generally, different regulations apply load criteria according to the type of application:
– Residential, private application
– Public application (ERP)
– General public application (stadium, concert hall, etc.)
Sadev has therefore adapted its range to meet the different types of applications according to the different regulations per country.
The role of a balustrade is to provide protection against people falling. Placed on the edge of an area or opening to a void, it prevents an adult from accidentally tipping over or a child from falling under or through.
In general, a guardrail becomes mandatory when the fall height is ≥ at 1m.
Recommendation: refer to the standards in force in the country.
Thanks to SABCO, yes!
We have developed a wide range of customisable, interchangeable, easy-to-install and certified covers.
They are available as standard in two finishes: natural or brushed aluminium.
It is possible to lacquer them according to a defined RAL code (qualicoat certified).
Wood finish available on request.
